Northern Right Whales are roughly the same size as Bowhead whales, and weigh just slightly less (30-80 tons, or 30,480-81,280 kilograms) But the resemblance stops there. Northern Right Whales aren’t exactly pretty to look at. Their heads are covered in whitish lumpy growths called callosities. Callosities are the whale equivalent of the horns on a sheep, but because of the underwater environment, callosities tend to attract lice, barnacles and other small parasites.
